Step Out for "Feather"

Here is the Step Out for my tangle pattern "Feather"

It is pretty easy once you have done it a few times.  You can vary the curve of the feather to fit into spaces within the string lines.   You can add lots of variation to it as well.   I hope you enjoy it.

Day Twenty Two

Day Twenty Two . Wednesday 31 July.

Well I made it to the end of the month with a few little hiccups.   I hope you have enjoyed the tangle drawing journey so far, together with the free step outs that I have provided of mostly my designs.   As a CTZ I am happy to share some of the Official Zentangle Step Outs that I have drawn out, however, I will not be sharing them all here.  It is highly recommended that you take a class from a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT).  You can find a list of them here at Zentangle.

Step Out for "Ineer"

This is the Step Out for my pattern "Ineer".  Designed before 2011.  If you thought it looked like a seed, you would be right as I based it on a simple seed pod.

Enjoy ... Jane

Day Twenty

 Day Twenty

This one is extra special to me because it has my pattern "Peeks" in it.   I love the Tasmanian Mountains, its peaks and valleys, I love the snow fall in Winter and the dry brown flatlands in Summer, the streams and fishing. It is a magical place.

I will introduce the step out for this pattern sometime this week ... watch this space :)

String Line
I love this string line ... it always looks good, especially when you use contrasting patterns ... such as I have here, a dark background one such as Atoms and the lighter one of Jag.

Day Sixteen

 Day Sixteen

Today I have used Pipe Flower (JM) one of my patterns, it reminds me of old fashioned pipes with smokers puffing away, or plumes of smoke billowing out of chimneys.

I have also used Striping behind the Opus pattern.   I think the Striping looks fantastic when you add Sparkle to it.  The Sparkle is when you leave parts of white in the black to make it look like the light is reflecting off the surface.
 String Line
You will notice that I don't always stick to the string line ... you don't have to either, just let the tangle take you where it wants to go :)

Happy Tangling today ... I have had a lot of lovely emails from some of you.  Thank you, I am so glad you are enjoying this journey with me.   Jane x

Day Fifteen

 Day Fifteen

I love drawing Hollibaugh and love even more to make it curved and envelope the whole tile.  I also love the pattern "Jetties" and have done a mix of circle patterns in here.
 String Line
I have only loosely followed the string line this time ... I might use it again for another tangle drawing.
 Side by Side
Step out for how I draw curved Hollibaugh.  I don't join up the curves until I am sure I have drawn enough of hollibaugh.   You can draw anything behind and use the spaces created as another string line.

Happy Tangling today ... Jane x

Days Nine, Ten and Eleven

 Day Nine
 Day Ten
Day Eleven

This one is my adaptation of Molly (from Zentangle) pattern called "Strircles".

There is a small "mistake" in this one where I have started to shade the wrong part of the shape.   Can you find the mistake?

Day Eight

Day Eight ... Wednesday's Tangle drawing.

Did you have fun using the string lines I posted?

I have started to put secondary tangles into spaces and overlap string line areas.

Sparkles means leaving a white space in the black as a highlight.

I will bring you the next days tangle drawings in  a few days ... Life, as they say, has gotten in the way for a little bit.

Day Eight with a Twist

Today we are going to play a little different ... I am posting the three string lines I will be doing over the next three days.

  • This one is for today (17 July 2013)
This one is for Thursday (18 July 2013)
This one is for Friday (19 July 2013)
And as we have not got any tangle patterns to look at, I thought I might share with you my adaptation of the Zentangle pattern Mooka.

I call this "Mooka Pod"  I did this way back in 2011 a few days after the pattern Mooka was released.

A simpler rendition of my pattern "Mooka Pod"

A lot of you probably know I love to paint rocks ... I have used my pattern "Rain Dotty" here on these rocks ... Tangling on rocks gives our art a whole different dimension.

Have fun tangling and I will probably see you all Friday... Jane x

Day Seven

 One Week ... amazing.
My tangle pattern "Jag" is really an adaptation of  my pattern "Strata". I gave it a different name, because it is slightly different in that it doesn't have circles but has squares and triangles that spiral into the centre.

Stoic and Umble are two of my favourites of the Official Zentangle patterns.
